A simple checklist that works

Use this list room-by-room. If you are time-poor, prioritise kitchen, bathrooms, floors, and windows—these are the areas property managers look at first.

1) Kitchen (highest impact)

  • Degrease cooktop, rangehood filter, splashback, and bench edges
  • Clean inside and outside of oven and microwave (where required)
  • Wipe all cupboard doors, handles, and kickboards
  • Sanitise sink, taps, and drain area
  • Spot clean walls and remove marks near bins and prep areas

2) Bathrooms (inspection focus)

  • Remove soap scum from shower screens and tracks
  • Scrub grout lines and rinse thoroughly
  • Descale taps and polish mirrors

  • Vent fan cover and light fittings (dust removal)

3) Living areas & bedrooms

  • Remove marks from walls (gentle spot clean)
  • Clean windows and sills where accessible

4) Floors & final presentation

  • Mop hard floors with streak-free finish
  • Check corners, behind doors, and under furniture areas
  • Remove cobwebs from ceilings and balcony corners
  • Take a final walkthrough and correct anything visible in natural light
